Having technology in the classroom helps students better understand work that is giving and also helps students learn how to use technology better because after college almost every job in the real world uses some type of technology. Technology has came along way since the first computers were made in the late 1980s there has been upgrades on computers and also technology every year. Each year there is a different technology device that comes out in stores that is very expensive and has new advancements. Technology does distract learning sometimes but having devices in class can help not make it an distraction by enforcing different things to on devices that helps with learning. The more technology students are able to use while in class the better.
For this generation of students, they work better using devices that are new. An example that supports my argument from an article with empirical evidence is in Education Week. There are some teachers and professors who banned devices and have learned that students are not as active as there when they have there devices. Chronicle of Higher Education To support my argument about devices being an distraction in class Professor Jason Farman argues that even though computer are just like Ipads that it is not a good idea to band them because of the social media is everywhere in our everyday lives. Farman also says that he is learning to help make it easier for students to learn better by using tablets because as he learned that there are many different things you can do with an ipad just using an ipad. Professor Farman understands that ipads are a bigger verging of an iPhone and can be used as an cell phone as well. In his class, using twitter backchannel will keep students engaged and also help them multitask. This article helps support my augment that technology helps students in class because in these two articles, college professors that use technology in class gets work done faster and also makes grading a lot easier. It is not just easy for the professor but it is also easy for the students. If students overuse the technology devices, they have to be concerned about classwork as well. But if students can use devices for academic purposes in their courses ,the class will seem more interesting and there also learning about how to use technology to assist in their classroom learning and for doing something creative on an technology device.
